RULES OF THE ADHESIVE TAPE MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION
1. Title
The Association shall be called the Adhesive Tape
Manufacturers' Association, and is herein after referred to as the
"Association"
2. Objects
The objects of the Association are as follows:
a) To promote the manufacture and sale of Consumer, Mechanical,
Industrial and Medical Self Adhesive Tape in
Great Britain and Ireland.
b) To promote, support or oppose legislative measures affecting
the interests of the Adhesive tape Industry.
c) To negotiate with Government Departments on behalf of any or
all the Members of the Association.
d) To determine and maintain standards of quality for the various
products in the interests of the consumer.
e) To take any and all other steps to further the trade interests
of the Members.
3. Membership
a) Full Members of the Association shall be confined to
competent Manufacturers of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive
tapes, the major portion of whose sales
of Adhesive tapes shall be coated by them in their own factory or
factories in Great Britain and/or
Ireland.
b) Associate Members shall be Manufacturers and coaters of
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes in EEC and/or
EFTA countries, with wholly owned sales
and distribution organisations in the United Kingdom and/or
Ireland. Such Members shall not have a
vote.
All Members shall hold the
standards ISO 9000
series/BS5750.
4. Application for Membership
A new Full or Associate Member of the Association may be
admitted by a majority of two-thirds of the Full
Members of the Association present or voting by a post at a
Meeting of the Association, of which fourteen clear days notice
shall have been given. A new Full or Associate Member shall
subscribe to and be furnished with a copy of these rules.
5. Retirement
A full or Associate Member may withdraw from the Association upon
sending one calendar month's notice, in writing, by recorded
delivery, to the Secretary of the Association, and whereupon his
rights and privileges under these Rules shall terminate. A Full or
Associate Member may only retire from the Association at the end of
the Association's financial year and the written notice should,
therefore, reach the Secretaries by 31st August at the latest.
6. Meetings
An Annual Meeting of the Members of the Association for the
election of Officers shall normally be held prior to 30th June in
each year, and other Meetings shall be called as occasion arises by
the Chairman or Secretary, upon fourteen days notice. The Meeting
place shall be decided by the Secretary, having regard to the
convenience of the majority of the Members.
7. Officers
The Members, in Annual Meeting, shall elect from among the Full
Members, upon such conditions as they think fit, a Chairman and Vice
Chairman to hold office for one year and to be eligible for
re-election. The Members shall also appoint a Secretary, who need
not be a Member of the Association and who shall act as Treasurer,
and shall define his duties and fix his remuneration.
8. Committee
The members may appoint such Sub-Committees and Technical
Advisors as may be thought desirable to further the Objects of the
Association.
9. Voting
All decisions of the Association, other than decisions relating
to the admissions of new Members, shall be by the vote of a simple
majority of its full Members, voting personally at a Meeting of the
Association duly summoned by the Secretary, at which a quorum of at
least half the Full Members of the Association shall be present.
Each full Member of the Association shall have one vote, and the
Chairman of any Meeting shall have a second or casting vote.
10. Decisions
Decisions reached in accordance with the preceding Rule shall be
duly recorded in the Association's Minute Book and signed by the
Chairman.
11. Alterations
These Rules may only be altered by a personal or proxy vote with
at least 80% majority of all Full Members, and can only be so
altered at a special Meeting called for that purpose, of which
fourteen days notice has been sent to all Members specifying the
changes proposed.
12. Finance
Members shall each contribute annually a sum to meet the estimated
expenses of the Association for the following year, and the amount
of such contribution shall be agreed at the September meeting of the
Association. Any extraordinary expenditure must be authorised at a
Meeting of the Association. The Annual Subscription of each Member,
as agreed at the September Meeting, shall be due for payment on 1st
October of each Association year.
